I haven't had love, for as long as I can remember
Haven't known love --from a tender age
Hadn't had love October through September
then you came along --turned the page
A new Chapter --a new beginning

I hadn't had love for as long as I can remember
No memory of being loved, anyone caring 'bout me
Had been devoid of love, December through November
Now you've come my way and suddenly 
The day has grown brighter
A new chapter, a new beginning

Expanding my horizons, life now full of surprises
love at last knocking on my door
Rising to this new occasion 
though still harboring suspicion
So requiring more proof, than I ever needed before

That you won't suddenly vanish into thin air
That you truly care about me, and will always be here
My past rearing its ugly head, so I don't yet dare dream
that this time, things will be different

Cause I hadn't known love
from the day of my first breath
No loving touch, no sweet caress
The years came and went, expectations never high
